St George’s University Hospitals – Radiopharmacy Ventilation & Cleanroom Upgrade

Introduction

CDC Cleanroom Specialists were employed by St George’s University Hospitals NHS Trust, as a specialist cleanroom contractor, to provide a competitive, project solution for the replacement of the air handling unit and associated plant serving the Radiopharmacy suite. Also included was the strip out and replacement of the branch connections from the main ductwork serving the facility to the terminal HEPA filters and the installation of new BMS controls and facility monitoring system, which were integrated into the existing systems which monitor the existing adjacent Aseptic Suite. The Radiopharmacy Unit provides comprehensive radiopharmaceutical services to the Trust and to
other hospitals in the region. The service includes the manufacture and quality control of radiopharmaceuticals and the preparation of radio-labelled blood components for clinical use.
